A New Purchase: March 20th, 2010
March 20, 2010 – 3:39 pmI decided to treat myself this week with a new watch. The market has been very good to me for the past year and I needed a new watch anyway, so viola! The watch is a Breitling Navitimer with a calf skin leather band. I have always been a fan of Rolexes but after comparing them with other watches such as Panerais, Breitlings and such, the Rolex brand has more of an elderly type look. This is not to say the watch is not awesome, but I am in my early 20′s and trying many of them on sort of made me feel like I was 50. Timepieces have always been near and dear to my heart, as I look at watches just like the clothes you wear. By this, I mean it should accompany your wardrobe just like a nice belt or tie would. My other watch is a blue faced Omega Seamaster but the watch is currently under repair.
This watch is stunning to say the least. It is beautifully constructed and the type of stainless steel they used to construct it shines like no other. You could probably see this thing gleaming from about 10 miles away on a clear and sunny day. The attention to detail is amazing as well because these watches were meant for pilots and all the small numbers and stuff on the dial and bezel were meant for calculating things like fuel consumption rates, nautical velocity, ETA times ect. There are two negative thing to say about this watch and both are something I criticize many watchmakers on. First is the use of glow in the dark components. I think it is childish and looks “cheap” but logically it does make sense if you are driving when it is dark and such. Lastly is the band option. Navitimers run about $5,200 (plus tax!) for just the timepiece without the wristband. The leather straps are relatively cheap, but if you wanted the Breitling stainless steel band, it would run you $1400. Ridiculous!
Take a look at the pics. Sorry if they are a bit small or blurry but I use a DSLR and these things have a minimum focus range that is alot farther than your basic point and shoot camera. My personal favorite of the Breitling line are the Montbrillants but those things are a bit out of my price range. Enjoy!

You should wait to see what I have next in store. Tomorrow marks the end of the stock market fiscal year (atleast to me), because it the last to contribute to your IRA for the previous year. Tomorrow marks the third straight year where I have crushed the S&P 500 average in regard to percentage profit vs. year over year S&P gains.
